Explore the elegance of the saree: Two ways to wear it with style

Sarees are a traditional Indian garment that has captivated people worldwide for its elegance and beauty. It is a symbol of Indian culture and it is worn on various occasions, from festive celebrations to formal events. Wearing a saree may seem daunting at first, but with practice and patience, anyone can carry off this garment with grace. Here are two ways to wear a saree, accompanied by photos and links to instructional videos.

1. Classic Style: Nivi Saree

The Nivi style is one of the most popular methods of wearing a saree. Follow these steps to achieve a classic and elegant look:

Step 1: Choose the Right Saree

Select a standard-length saree (approximately 5.5 to 6 meters) and a matching blouse. Ensure you have a pair of accessories, such as a petticoat (tight-fitting skirt), and traditional jewelry.

Start by wearing the blouse and the tight-fitting skirt. Make sure the skirt is snugly fitted at your waist.

Step 2: Initial Draping

Hold the undecorated end of the saree and start wrapping it around the waist counterclockwise. Ensure the saree's edge touches the ground.

Step 3: Pleats

Make pleats at the top of the saree and tuck them into the skirt on the left side. Create uniform pleats along the saree's edge.

Step 4: Final Draping

Twist around the body, making sure the saree is snug. Pull the remaining end over the left shoulder and let it gracefully fall down the back.

2. Modern Style: Lehenga Saree

The Lehenga Saree style is a contemporary option that combines the elegance of the saree with the comfort of a lehenga (skirt). Follow these steps for a modern look:

Step 1: Preparations

Put on the blouse and the lehenga skirt. Ensure the skirt is snugly fitted at the waist and falls to the desired length.

Step 2: Saree Draping

Take the end of the saree and start wrapping it around the waist clockwise, creating pleats in the front.

Step 3: Back Pleats

Make pleats at the back of the saree and secure them to the lehenga skirt. Ensure an even fall of the saree.

Step 4: Pallu Draping

Bring the remaining end over the right shoulder and let it fall down the back or drape it over the arm.
